Every year on Martin Luther King Day, I ask myself "Where was I?" I should have been there. I should have marched. I was living in Detroit in 1967 just before the riots began. Shortly after that I left the country for a few years and learned of the assassination of Martin Luther King on Japanese TV. I finally walked the Montgomery Freedom Trail in 1997. In honor of Martin Luther King and all those who marched with him and died with him, The Queen is offering that night free for anyone who stays two additional nights before or after Martin Luther King Day. Celebrate your love with a weekend of Victorian Pastimes

After checking in at your Victorian Bed and Breakfast be sure to ask your hostess for a tour of the Victorian parlor where you can view pictures of Victorian life and house interiors with one of the three stereoscopes, crank up the Victrola and play some vaudeville, pump the player piano and sing a little ragtime. A refreshing nap and a short walk will take you to The Governor’s Pub where you will choose from an array of fine foods including appetizer, salad, and gourmet entrée prepared by Exec Chef Laura Hamilton. Your dinner includes a champagne toast and Lover’s dessert. After dinner, return to The Queen where you can toast marshmallows in the fireplace or simply retire to the privacy of your room.
